چکیده
Abstract Background The levels of tryptophan (TRP) metabolites such as kynurenine (KYN), kynurenic acid (KYNA), quinaldic acid, 3-hydrocynynene, anthranilic picolinic (PA) and xanthurenic were determined systematically in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Previous studies found a negative correlation with TRP IBD activity. However, there is no data about serum their severity IBD. We aimed to determine the between TRP, its clinical, laboratory, endoscopic findings activation including fecal calprotectin. Methods A total 115 patients, 77 (66.4%) UC 38 (33.6%) CD, included. Forty three % (n=49) patients female. 57 (n=66) male. mean age females males 42.07±13.39 44.23± 10.04 years, respectively. Patients categorized according activity: Sixty-five (57%) remission 50 (43%) active. predictive value activity was evaluated by tryptophan, calprotectin levels. Results At cut-off ≤11328.41 ng/ml sensitivity predict 76.9% specificity 71.7%. On other hand, at ≥89.60 µg/g calprotectin, detecting 88.1% 80.0%. Calprotectin, sedimentation, CRP, KYN/TRP values be significantly higher active period than (p<0.001, p<0.001, p<0.007 respectively). KYNA, PA statistically lower phase compared those (p=0.01, p=0.022 Conclusion Serum increased Quinolinic did not differ remission. which metabolite degradation, disease. still had superior for Further are needed assess pathway course

The Covid-19 pandemic created by the 2019 Coronavirus-nCov has become one of the biggest health problems of the current century. Because this disease is new in human society and has no previous history, so our information about it is incomplete, and researchers are trying to study with extensive clinical studies and changes in the human body caused by the function of this virus. It is clear tha...
متن کاملSerum Myeloperoxidase as A Biomarker of Asthma Severity Among Adults: A Case Control Study
Background: The contribution of neutrophils is still indistinct in the inflammatory response of bronchial asthma (BAs). Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an enzyme released from the primary azurophilic granules of the neutrophils. The study aimed to evaluate the levels of serum MPO as a biomarker for the assessment of the level of asthma control. Methods: The study participants included 94 asthmat...
متن کاملEvaluation of procalcitonin as a biomarker of diagnosis, severity and postoperative complications in adult patients with acute appendicitis
Background :Delay in diagnosis and treatment of acute appendicitis (AA) results in an increased rate of perforation, postoperative morbidity, mortality and hospital length of stay. Several biochemical parameters including white blood cell (WBC) count, C-reactive protein (CRP), interleukin-6 (IL6) and Procalcitonin (PCT) have been used to further improve the clinical diagnosis of AA. The aim o...
متن کاملRole of microRNA as a biomarker in Alzheimer’s disease
Introduction: MicroRNAs are small, non-coding, and protected RNA molecules that regulate gene expression after transcription by mRNA degradation or inhibition of protein synthesis. The function of these molecules is critical to many cellular processes, including growth, development, differentiation, homeostasis, apoptosis, aging, stress resistance. In addition, some diseases including cancer, a...

PURPOSE To study the association between tear osmolarity and dry eye severity grade, based on a modified Dry Eye Workshop (DEWS) scale, and between osmolarity and the signs and symptoms that determine dry eye disease severity. METHODS Nineteen patients with dry eye disease were asked to complete an evaluation of dry eye signs and symptoms composed of the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) qu...
